The short version
There are no accounts, no tracking, and no advertising. Nothing personal about you is collected, and your notes are yours — we cannot read them. The one thing that leaves your device automatically is anonymous technical diagnostic data, described below.
Your notes
Notes you write about stations are stored in two places, both of which belong to you:
- A file on your device, inside the app's own storage.
- Your personal iCloud account, which is what allows notes to appear on your other devices.
Neither is accessible to the developer. Notes are never transmitted to us or to any third party. If you delete the app, the copy on your device goes with it; the iCloud copy remains in your account until you remove it.
Sharing or exporting notes sends them only where you choose to send them, through the sharing options your device already provides.
Station information
The app downloads station descriptions so they can be corrected without requiring an app update. This is a one-way transfer: information comes down to your device, and nothing about you is sent up.
Those requests are served by Google Firebase. As with any request made over the internet, the server necessarily sees your device's IP address in order to reply. It is not used to identify you and is not stored by us.
The Firebase component that fetches this data also reports anonymous technical diagnostic information to Google — the kind of data that shows whether requests are succeeding. Google classifies it as "Other Diagnostic Data". It is not linked to your identity and is not used for tracking, and we never see it. This is declared on the App Store listing under "Data Not Linked to You".
Google's handling of that traffic is covered by Firebase's privacy documentation. Firebase Analytics is deliberately not included in this app, so no record of which stations you view or how you use the app is created by anyone.
What is not collected
To be explicit, the app does not gather any of the following:
- Your name, email address, or any contact information
- Your location
- Which stations you look at, or how often you use the app
- Device identifiers or advertising identifiers
- Anything that could be used to build a profile of you
Apple provides developers with anonymous, aggregated statistics — such as download counts and crash reports — for users who have opted in to sharing them with developers in their device settings. This comes from Apple, not from anything in the app, and never identifies anyone.
Children
The app is suitable for all ages. Nothing personal is collected from anyone, including children — the only automatic transmission is the anonymous technical diagnostic data described above, which cannot identify anyone regardless of age.
Changes
If this policy ever changes, the revised version will be posted here and the date below updated. Any change that involved collecting data would be described plainly rather than buried.
